Facing My Fears

The thing about this whole writing gig that is most difficult for me is self-promotion. But I was offered the opportunity for a Facebook Live interview to talk about my newest flash piece published by Spark and I very reluctantly took it. I have confidence in my writing. I'm no CS Lewis (I wish I were that good) but I know I can tell a decent story. I appreciate it when people find my work and enjoy it and I love the writing process from beginning to end, but convincing agents and editors and the general public that they should search out my work and even pay money to read it seems so self-aggrandizing that I tend to just pretend it's not necessary.
But I know it is necessary. If writers want to alert the public to where their work is available and have actual people read it, we have to get the message out there. So when Spark offered me an interview, I decided to bite the bullet and appear on camera.
It turned out to be fun. Jennifer Purcell from Spark made it easy and enjoyable and my kids tell me it wasn't painful to watch. I call that a win. So if you'd like to see and hear me talk about the inspiration for my story, Love From Memory based on recollections of Spain. https://sparkflashfiction.com/love-from-memory/story and my thoughts on writing, you can find it here: https://www.facebook.com/watch/live/?ref=search&v=1627540458091550
