TWENTY YEARS IN THE MAKING!

Long, long ago I wrote a play designed to engage students in learning about geography, art, history, and literature by taking them on an adventure that circumnavigated the world. There was a lot going on in 1898 and my play which was originally called Around the World in 90 Minutes details many historical happenings, literary giants, scientific breakthroughs, and notable celebrities on the global stage that year. The whole thing was was just too much fun to put away, so after a year or two, I decided to dust it off and edit it, expand it, and enhance it into a Young Adult novel of adventure, friendship, and discovery, with a touch of romance. When I finally thought it had been tweaked sufficiently and decided it had been taking up space in my computer files long enough, a friend (you know who you are, Patty) offered to read it and critique it for me. She gave me the confidence to submit it, and this year I went for it. I'm glad I did because it feels really good to get awarded a third place in a category that boasted lots of entries. Now I just need a publisher!
